EVERYONE!
Body awareness is key. Whether you're looking to develop strength, flexibility mobility, mindfulness or a little "me-time", Pilates has something for everyone!
Pilates works from the inside out by targeting deep postural muscles to give you strength, balance, coordination, and poise, helping individuals achieve healthy bodies through optimal body alignment.
When your body is properly aligned, you'll move with greater ease, experience less aches and pains, have more energy, and feel more confident!
A Pilates reformer machine looks like a bed frame. Rather than a mattress, the reformer has a platform on wheels that rolls up and down as you perform exercises.
The platform part is called the carriage. It's connected to the end of the frame by metal springs, and the springs create different levels of resistance. You use your body weight and muscles to push and pull the carriage along the reformer’s frame. Blocks on the carriage rest above your shoulders to ensure you don’t slide off the carriage as you work out.
The reformer also has a bar at one end, that w call the foot bar. The foot bar is adjustable to accommodate different exercises. During some exercises, you'll place your hands on the bar. During others, you'll use your feet. Opposite the bar on top of the machine is a set of long straps with handles. You can loop your hands or feet through the handles and use the straps to extend your arms or legs as part of certain moves.
The metal springs on the reformer machine are adjustable, which means that you can modify your exercises and resistance according to your fitness level, familiarity with Pilates moves and the build of your body.
The adjustability of the reformer makes Pilates attenable for individuals who are recovering from an injury, new to movement, or those seeking a intense balance and core workout.
At Pilates for Success, we believe that movement is medicine.
Pilates includes precise movements, focused breathing, and muscle engagement, enhancing muscle tone, mobility, stability and body awareness.
When you practice Pilates you are strengthening and stretching, moving and aligning, addressing imbalances in the physical body that if ignored can create aches and pains and possible injury.
